Bodegas Granbazán

Granbazán is one of the founding projects of the Rías Baixas appellation — founded in 1981 by the Otero family with French consulting, on a 25-hectare estate that's one of the largest continuous Albariño plantings on the high pergola system. Granbazán Etiqueta Verde, Etiqueta Ámbar, and Limousin (this last with French oak aging, very rare in Rías Baixas) cover the full stylistic range Albariño can deliver. The visit passes through the pergola vineyard and the barrel room.

Forjas del Salnés

Forjas del Salnés is Rodrigo Méndez's project (originally with Raúl Pérez quietly involved), one of the most sought-after wineries in Rías Baixas — and one of the hardest to visit (tiny production, no tourism structure). What comes out — Leirana, Sketch, Goliardo — are seriously aged Albariños with Atlantic minerality and top-tier prices. If you're interested in Albariño as "serious white wine" and you can get in, it's one of the most revealing visits on Spain's Atlantic coast.

Pazo Señorans

Pazo Señorans was one of the wineries that elevated Albariño's reputation in the 1990s, thanks to the work of Marisol Bueno and Javier Mareque. The pazo (Galician manor house) dates from the 16th century, with the winery occupying part of the original structures plus a modern facility. Selección de Añada — their top wine, an Albariño aged on lees for years before release — was the wine that founded the "gastronomic Albariño" school. Small-group, very informative visits.
